Griffith Park Is L.A.'s Top Filming Location for 2012

The city-owned park in Los Feliz is a longtime favorite, with its iconic observatory where parts of 'Rebel Without A Cause' were shot.

Los Feliz's Griffith Park is number one on a new list of 2012's top film, television, commercial and music video shoot locations in Los Angeles County.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Bird Sanctuary near the Greek Theater alone generated 409 production days, including visits by "Southland" and "Sons of Anarchy."

The Times reports that the 4,210-acre park is one of eight publicly-owned places on the list compiled by Film L.A. Inc., the quasi-public agency that issues filming permits.

Point Dume in Malibu (2), Dockweiler State Beach in Playa del Rey (3), the Sixth Street Bridge downtown L.A. (5) and Will Rogers State Beach in the Pacific Palisades (8) were others.
