Riding Bikes with the Dutch

A film by a Los Angeles filmmaker Michael Bauch that the City of Amsterdam promotes on its website and in presentations to, yes, Americans in search of learning how to create more bike-friendly, livable communities here in the United States.  Riding Bikes with the Dutch—the fast-paced journey comparing the bicycling culture of Holland with the burgeoning bike community in Long Beach amidst a car-centered Southern California landscape— screens as part of NewFilmmakers Los Angeles. A short question and answer session with the filmmaker will follow the screening.

The light-hearted documentary follows the filmmaker’s young family as they travel to Amsterdam to experience how the Dutch use bikes in their everyday life and their surprising return home to Long Beach. Amsterdam streetscapes and bicycle parking structures; Los Angeles freeways and Long Beach bike paths serves as scenic backdrop for the filmmaker’s dream to create more livable communities here in the United States.   The film trailer is available online at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yU5ScmJrp1c

Run time is 40 minutes followed by a Q&A with Michael Bauch.
