Billy Bob Thornton Memoir Signing
- Where/When: Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Blvd., Friday, Book signing 6:15 p.m., screenings at 7:30 p.m.
- What: Actor Billy Bob Thornton will sign copies of his memoir The Billy Bob Tapes: A Cave Full of Ghosts in conjunction with a double-feature screening of the Coen brother's The Man Who Wasn't There and A Simple Plan.
- Cost: $11 for general admission
Dinner and a Movie Under the Stars
- Where/When: Oscars Outdoors, 1341 Vine St., Friday, 8 p.m.
- What: See Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze in Ghost at the Academy's open-air theatre. Grab a bite before the flick at a nearby restaurant like Tender Greens or Fabiolus Cafe. On-site, check out the food trucks. Brasil Kiss and Flatiron Truck will be parked at the venue.
- Cost: $5 for general admission; $3 for Academy members and children.
- Where/When: Chinese 6 Theatres, Saturday, 10 a.m.
- What: See Madagascar in a setup ideal for young movie-goers. There will be booster seats and healthy snacks available. Lights will be left on in the auditorium.
- Cost: 25 cents (A throw back in honor of Grauman's Chinese Theatre's 85th anniversary, which is Chinese 6's sister venue.)
- Where/When: Playhouse Nighclub, 6506 Hollywood Blvd., Friday - Saturday
- What: Playhouse Nightclub (within the historic Fox Theater) is celebrating its three year anniversary with a full lineup of exclusive DJs and performances. Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike will perform Friday. Nick Canon performs Saturday.
- Cost: $20 admission
- Where/When: Hollywood Bowl, Saturday, 8:30 p.m.
- What: A popular summer sing-a-long screening of Grease returns to the iconic venue. Get there early for pre-show festivities including a costume competition.
- Cost: Tickets online are $12.50 or $84
- Where/When: Ford Amphitheatre, 2580 Cahuenga Blvd., Sunday, 8 p.m.
- What: The second annual "Beat the Drum: East Los Meets West Los" drum festival will feature demonstrations from South Mexican and Central American traditions. There will be dancing, screen printing and painting.
