Weekend Planner: The Deftones at Palladium, J.J. Abrams at the Hammer

Also, the Hollywood Celebrity Shooting Clays Invitational takes place in Newhall.

In the mood for a little head-banging metal music? If so, head to the Hollywood Palladium to enjoy the Deftones. Or you could plan a quieter day listening to an interesting conversation with a couple of brilliant producers. If you'd like to see Hollywood A-listers, about 40 0f them will be shooting in Newhall but it's not film or TV work that they will be doing. The weather may be a bit overcast this week but you can heat things up at the Supperclub during its haute bikini fashion show.

1. The Deftones 

Where/When: The Hollywood Palladium - 6215 West Sunset Boulevard 90028 | Friday, 7 p.m.

Why go: The art deco theater has a big dance floor to rock out to the alternative metal sounds of the Deftones. The band is known for several genres of music that are bound to get your blood pumping.

2. 2011 Hollywood Celebrity Shooting Clays Invitational

Where/When: Oak Tree Gun Club 23121 Coltrane Ave. Newhall, CA 91321 | Saturday 7:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Why go: If you like celebrities, helping charities and shooting at stuff, this is the event for you. Shooting at clay is apparently eco-friendly. People are put on teams with at least one celebrity and one international pro and then compete against one another. There will be organic barbecue food and cool safari items being auctioned off.  Event promoters say (40) celebrities will be attending including Colin Farrell, Aaron Eckhart and Elizabeth Berkley.            

Price: $75- $1,250 to be on a team. Buy tickets on Eventbrite.

3. Hammer Conversations: J.J. Abrams & Michael Giacchino

Where/When: Hammer Museum, 10899 Wilshire Blvd. Westwood | Sunday 3 p.m.

Why go: A fun night learning more about the creative process of these stellar producers/composers. Should be very entertaining to hear more inside information on Lost, and the new film Super 8. J.J. Abrams and Michael Giacchino both have multiple Emmys and Grammys and probably more on the way.

Price: Free. Tickets available one hour before the show at the Billy Wilder Theater box office; $3 for parking.

4. Pure Rodri Bikini Fashion Show at Supperclub

Where/When: Supperclub,  6675 Hollywood Blvd. 90028 | Thursday to Friday, 10 p.m.

Why go: Feel the summer sizzle with this sexy bikini fashion show starring Los Angeles beauties modeling Pure Rodri Swimwear while you enjoy unique cuisine and tasty beverages. Supperclub says its chefs go all over the world to learn different styles and come up with new dishes every evening.
