DOUBLE FEATURE AND OSCAR SHORTS

Why go: Actor Chuck McCann will speak between screenings of Play it as it Lays  and The Projectionist. In the Spielberg Theatre, see Oscar-nominated documentary shorts including Incident in Baghdad, which recounts the July 2007 slayings of two Reuters journalists and unarmed civilians by U.S. attack helicopters.

RED CARPET MEMORIES

Where/When: The Coterie at the Renaissance Hotel, 1755 Highland Ave., through Feb. 19. Showtimes: 8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday; 8 p.m. Sunday

Why go: Over dinner and drinks, get into the Oscar spirit with a musical tribute to Academy Award-nominated songs.

SUNLESS TAN, ANYONE?

Where/When: Spa Luce, 1755 Highland Ave., is having a weekend special on their sunless spray tan.

Why go: Spas are little piece of heaven on earth and this one inside the Renaissance Hotel is no exception. In this winter weather, scoop up this deal and stay off the chilly beach.

IRON COMIC

Where/When: Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, 5919 Franklin Ave., 10 p.m. Saturday

Why go: Greg Behrendt,  Morgan Murphy, Chelsea Perretti, Louis Katz and Alex Koll will take part in this live gameshow inspired by Iron Chef. Five comedians will rush to write a routine from topics suggested by the audience. At the end of the night, an Iron Comic is chosen.

TEN MINUTE PLAY FESTIVAL

Where/When: Stella Adler Academy & Theatre, 6773 Hollywood Blvd., 8 - 10 p.m. Friday - Saturday; 3 p.m. Sunday

Why go: The Towne Street Theatre presents the 5th Annual TST Ten Minute Play Festival. The theme is "The Black Experience" – Part 2 LOVE. See 12 ten-minute plays ranging from drama to comedy to satire. Make it a fun date night!
