Thai New Year Festival Coming Sunday

Weather: Expect a sunny day with a high near 85 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, we’ll have increasing clouds with a low around 60 degrees and patchy fog after 11 p.m. Sunrise: 6:41 a.m. Sunset: 7:02 p.m.

Cheapest gas prices: For the third consecutive day, the cheapest gas prices in town have not changed, according to LosAngelesGasPrices.com. The cheapest gallon of regular gas is $3.99 at the Arco gas station at 6100 Franklin Ave. and Gower Avenue. The second lowest price is $4.03 at the Shell gas station at 5657 Sunset Blvd. and North Wilton Place.

Beautification meeting: The Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council’s Beautification Committee will meet Saturday to discuss pop up parks, speed bumps, preferential parking districts, trash cans, dog waste stations and a recycling center on Lilian Way, according to its agenda. The meeting is at 6521 Willoughby Ave. from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Thai Festival: With its rich cultural activities and shows, the 2011 Songkran Festival is prepared to celebrate the Thai New Year from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The event takes place on Hollywood Boulevard between Western and Normandie avenues. There will be authentic Thai food, souvenirs, traditional Thai dance performances, live musical shows, the Singha Beer Garden, Muy Thai boxing, Miss Thai New Year pageant and more. Parking is limited. Avoid getting caught in traffic and plan on taking the Metro Red Line to the Western/Hollywood station.
