Reality TV Personalities Not in the Stars for Hollywood Walk of Fame

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has no plans for including reality show stars on the iconic Walk of Fame, reports NBC LA.

Sounds like a Kim Kardashian or Snookie star won't be cozying up to those for Grace Kelly or Lucille Ball on the Walk of Fame anytime soon.

A post on the Hollywood Walk of Fame's Facebook page states the organization's current position on reality TV stars receiving the honor: "Hell to the No!"

Each year the organization, which is administered by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, receives hundreds of nominations, but only selects about 24 people to be granted the honor, according to NBC LA.

What about Ryan Seacrest or the godfather of reality television, producer Mark Burnett?

Seacrest, the American Idol host, earned his star from his radio career. Burnett received his star for producing more than 1,100 hours of reality based programming, but he doesn't appear n them.

A commenter on the Facebook post points out that Gene Simmons has a star. He and his family currently star in Gene Simmons: Family Jewels.

An administrator for the Walk of Fame Facebook page says Simmons was honored for his career as the lead singer for KISS. "What they do after they get their star is up to them," the administrator said.

Ana Martinez, vice president of media relations for the Walk of Fame, tells NBC LA that one day reality show stars may be included on the Walk of Fame. "Who knows? The committee always surprises me. Right now, it hasn't been discussed about reality stars," she said.

Stay tuned.
