Project Aims to Clean Up Local Freeway Off-Ramps

The Hollywood Entertainment District and the Sunset & Vine Business Improvement District are partnering in the effort.

Off-ramps near the Hollywood (101) Freeway will soon get some sprucing up, thanks to efforts by the Hollywood Entertainment District and the Sunset and Vine Business Improvement District.

The two agencies are teaming up to help clean up off-ramps on the Hollywood (101) Freeway in Hollywood.

"For people traveling by car, they're a welcome mat to our neighborhood," said Sarah Besley, executive director of the Sunset and Vine Business Improvement District.

Besley said property owners in the area first expressed concerns about the appearance of the off-ramps about a year ago.

As a result, the two agencies applied for and received a $10,000 grant, $5,000 for each agency, from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power that will be used to remove trash and clean up graffiti on the off-ramps, according to Besley.

"Unfortunately, the off-ramps have been kind of dirty, so we're excited we can use this money to clean the ramps up," said Devin Strecker, marketing director for the Hollywood Entertainment District.

The project is slated to begin this summer and will not impact any traffic in the area, Besley said.
