Power Outage Impacts 1,700 Customers in Hollywood

The problem was first reported early this morning.

About 1,700 utility customers were without electricity today in the Hollywood area, but the outage was not related to the heat wave, authorities said.

The problem was reported about 7:15 a.m. near the Hollywood (101) Freeway and Yucca Street, Kim Hughes of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said.

Crews were working to restore service to the affected customers this afternoon, Hughes said.

The cause of the outage was under investigation, but "it was not heat- related,'' Hughes said.
