Munchkin to Be Honored by Councilman in Hollywood

Jerry Maren is believed to be one of the last three surviving Munchkins from 'The Wizard of Oz.'

Jerry Maren, who portrayed the middle member of the Lollipop Guild in "The Wizard of Oz" who presents Dorothy with an oversize lollipop to welcome her to Oz, will be honored Tuesday in Hollywood by Councilman Tom LaBonge to mark his 93rd birthday.

Maren was born in Boston on Jan. 24, 1920. His other credits include the 1939 Marx Brothers film "At the Circus," the original 1968 version of "Planet of the Apes," and the 1997 episode of the classic NBC comedy "Seinfeld" that popularized the phrase, "Yada, yada, yada."
