Mariachi Festival Returns to the Hollywood Bowl

The annual event will feature popular performers and Grammy nominees.


The annual Mariachi Festival will return this weekend to the Hollywood Bowl.

The event will feature mariachi groups from the United States as well as Mexico.

Rodri J. Rodriguez, the founder and producer of the event, said he wanted to share the Mexican musical tradition with people around Los Angeles when the event first began 24 years ago.

This year’s festival will feature a musical tribute to legendary Mexican composer Jose Alfredo Jimenez.

Mariachi Vargas, Grammy nominee Mariachi Los Arrieros del Valle, Mariachi Estrella de Jalisco, Mariachi Los Reyes and Grammy nominee Trio Ellas are all scheduled to perform.

The dance group, Mi Tierra Ballet Folklórico, will also be on hand to entertain the crowds.

The festival will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.
