Jennifer Hudson Honored on Walk of Fame

Record producer and music industry executive Clive Davis is among those joining Hudson at the ceremony at 6262 Hollywood Blvd. in front of the W Hollywood Hotel.

Jennifer Hudson, who went from being a cruise ship singer to an Oscar and Grammy winner in six years, received the 2,512th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Wednesday.

Record producer and music industry executive Clive Davis was among those joining Hudson at the ceremony at 6262 Hollywood Blvd. in front of the W Hollywood Hotel.

The ceremony came two weeks before the release of Hudson's latest movie, "Black Nativity," her first musical since her Oscar-winning performance in her film debut in 2006's "Dreamgirls."

Hudson rocketed to fame on the Fox singing competition "American Idol" in 2004 even though she finished only seventh.

Hudson won a best rhythm and blues album Grammy in 2009 for her self- titled debut album. Her second album, "I Remember Me," was released in March 2011 and was certified as gold by the trade organization the Recording Industry Association of America.

Hudson's other film credits include "Sex and the City: The Movie," "The Secret Life of Bees," "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete" and "Winnie Mandela."
