Hollywood Seniors Aim for Laughs in Commercial

Weather:  Expect a sunny day with a high near 82 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight, we'll have clear skies with a low around 60 degrees. Sunrise: 6:44 a.m. Sunset: 7:11 p.m.

Cheapest gas prices: According to LosAngelesGasPrices.com, the cheapest gallon of regular gas is $3.99 at the Arco gas station at 6100 Franklin Ave. and Gower Avenue. The second lowest price is $4.03 at the Shell gas station at 5657 Sunset Blvd. and North Wilton Place.

Road closed: Filming of Wonder Woman resumes this afternoon. Day two of the three day shoot will prompt the closure of several lanes across Hollywood Boulevard beginning at 4 p.m., according to NavigateHollywood.com. Eastbound lanes of Hollywood Boulevard between Las Palmas Avenue and Orange Drive will close at 4 p.m. and will reopen at 7 p.m. Westbound lanes of Hollywood Boulevard will close at 7 p.m. and reopen at 7 a.m. Thursday morning. All lanes may be simultaneously closed around 7 p.m.

Only in Hollywood: A video clip of seniors in the Active Actors on-camera class at the Las Palmas Senior Center is making the rounds on YouTube. In December, the group entered a commercial in Doritos’ Crash the Super Bowl contest. Unfortunately, the local actors did not make it as  finalists, but their noteworthy effort remains on YouTube for all to see. [Editor's Note: Sorry for the inconvenience. Did you know: The Yucca Recreation Center’s “Kick-Back Soccer Club” is open to children in the community ages 5-17. The group meets Monday through Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The fee is $5 a month. Call 323-957-6339 for more information.
