Harlem Globetrotters Hosting Summer Clinics in Hollywood

The team is offering up hoops and health to kids this week.

The Harlem Globetrotters are trying to help Hollywood kids get in shape this summer.

The Globetrotters are launching three-day summer skills clinics for children ages six up to 12. During the clinics, kids will be able to participate in two-hour sessions that include coaching and motivating them as well as entertaining them. The clinic is the closest one for kids in this area, so children from all over Los Angeles, including Echo Park and Silver Lake may sign up.

This summer marks the second season of the summer skills clinics, according to Scott Johnson, spokesman for the Harlem Globetrotters.

Jacob Hoffman, acting club manager at the 24 Hour Fitness Hollywood Super Sport where the clinics will take place, said he welcomes the program especially since children must usually be at least 12 to exercise there.

“I think it’s great,” Hoffman said. “I think it’s awesome we have some of the kids in here who normally wouldn’t be able to have access to the facility.”
