Oscar-Nominated Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Symposium

Where/When: Samuel Goldwyn Theater, 8949 Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills, 90211, on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 2:30 p.m.

Why go: Here's a chance to get your family up close and personal with Oscar-nominated artists. This free event celebrates the achievement of the nominees in the makeup category. This year’s nominees (schedules permitting) will discuss their creative processes and present film clips, photographs and models of their work. There will be a stand-by line at the west door of the building on Saturday, February 26, with numbers given out at noon. The number of stand-by tickets that can be distributed will be determined shortly before the program begins. Ticket-holders should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the event to ensure a seat in the theater. For more information, 310-247-3600

Harlem Globetrotters

Where/When: Staples Center, 1111 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles, on Sunday, Feb. 27 12 p.m.

Why go: The Harlem Globetrotters are celebrating their 85th season with “4 Times the Fun” North American tour. There will be non-stop action, lots of audience participation and the first-ever 4-point shot 35 feet away from the hoop. Every game includes a 30-minute post game autograph session or consider purchasing the pregame “Magic Pass” to enjoy a special pre-game experience. This is sure to be a jaw-dropping performance that never fails to entertain the entire family.

Price: $16-$250, with discounts for kids 12 and under.

Karaoke Sundays at Giggles ‘N’ Hugs

Where/When:  Giggles 'n' Hugs, 11701 Wilshire Blvd., Sunday Feb. 27 12 p.m.

Why go: Kids love Karaoke too and Sundays at Giggles 'n' Hugs are a great opportunity to let them sing their hearts out while parents enjoy a nice meal. The menu is family friendly with salads, pizza pasta, lots of organic items and cleverly hidden veggies in key items. For more information call 310-478-4847

Imagination Movers: In a Big Warehouse

Where/When: Nokia Theater 777 Chick Hearn Ct. Saturday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Why go: Playhouse Disney's Imagination Movers, a high-energy musical group that's something of a cross between the Beastie Boys and Mr. Rogers, perform at the Nokia. Now filming the second season of their hit Playhouse Disney series, the Imagination Movers are fully realizing a dream they first brainstormed in 2003, when four friends began assembling in a back room after their kids’ bedtimes to write songs and develop ideas for a television series. The Movers are in the middle of filming 25 new shows, planning a 40-city fall tour, and celebrating the release of their second CD for Walt Disney Records, For Those About to Hop.

Sesame Street Presents: The Body

Where/When: The Discovery Science Center  2500 N. Main St., Santa Ana, CA 92705, every day through May 1st.

Why go:  This exhibit will cover your insides, outsides plus everything from fingers and toes to your ishy squishy insides. Sesame street characters will show the body is an amazing, complicated machine. Kids will have fun counting their organs and seeing what happens to the food they eat at Oscar's Digestion. They will learn all about different body parts they can see, like hands, feet and their heads and event the ones they can't see. For more information call 714-542-2823.
