Get to Know Your Wild Neighbors

Councilman Tom LaBonge and the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks Saturday are hosting a “Get to Know” your wild neighbors event and expo, urging kids and their families to get outdoors, get active, connect with their wild neighbors and celebrate nature.

The event is part of the 2012 national “Get to Know” contest that invites young people – 19 and under – to submit original works of art, writing, photography, music and video with a nature theme.

The event in Los Angeles at the iconic Griffith Observatory will feature free educational and artistic activities at more than 20 booths and a rock climbing-wall that will help create awareness and understanding of our outdoor environment and wildlife … not to mention a lot of fun for everyone.

Councilman LaBonge and Recreation and Parks Rangers will top-it-all-off with a hike to the top of Mount Hollywood!  Event is rain-or-shine ... but weather report calls for partly cloudy conditions.
