Developers Break Ground on Luxury Apartments in Hollywood

The construction of 32 apartment units at 1800 Whitley Avenue is expected to be completed by the summer of 2012.

City officials and developers broke ground on a five-story luxury apartment complex at 1800 Whitley Avenue on Monday.

Councilman Tom LaBonge, CIM Group executives and community leaders attended the ground breaking ceremony at the northeast corner of Whitley and Yucca avenues, one block north of Hollywood Boulevard.

The $20 million project, developed by CIM Group, will have 32 boutique luxury apartments with floor to ceiling windows, commercial-grade kitchen appliances and in-unit washers and dryers, according to a news update on Tom LaBonge’s website.

Construction is expected to end  by summer 2012.

"This beautiful complex will be a landmark gateway to the new Hollywood, embodying its thriving energy. 1800 Whitley Avenue is a prime location, a great address ... and I wish you success," said LaBonge.

In 1998, CIM Group identified Hollywood as an emerging urban district that meets the firm's strategic investment guidelines. Since then, it has acquired and developed a portfolio of properties that include Hollywood & Highland, The Renaissance Hotel and Sunset and Vine Tower.
