Bill Geist Walk of Fame Ceremony Today

Cheapest gas prices: The cheapest gallon of regular gas is $4.15 at the Arco gas station at 6100 Franklin Ave. and Gower Street, according to LosAngelesGasPrices.com. The second lowest price is $4.19 at the Shell gas station at 5657 Sunset Blvd. and N. Wilton Place.

Star ceremony: CBS News correspondent Bill Geist is set to receive a star on the Walk of Fame at 6850 Hollywood Blvd. next to the El Capitan Theatre at 11:30 a.m. He is the 2,437 recipient, the Hollywoood Chamber of Commerce announced in a press release. Guest speakers will include Gil Schwartz, executive vice president and chief communications officer at CBS. The recognition has been in the works since one of Geist’s news features in 2008 highlighted what it takes to get a star in Hollywood.

Electronic waste drive: The Oaks School is having an e-waste collection drive today from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Bring old computers, cellphones and televisions. Collection bins will be in the church parking lot at 6817 Franklin Ave.

Do-gooder opportunity: The Hard Rock Cafe is hosting "Unite for Japan" today. The event includes a Red Cross blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a benefit concert at 9 p.m. with performances by Gretchen Bonaduce’s ’80s tribute band Ankhesenamen, Sophie Simmons and Great White.
