The Go-Go's to Receive Walk of Fame Star

An induction ceremony for the '80s rock band is scheduled for Thursday at 11:30 a.m.

The Go-Go’s, who ruled the pop music charts in the early '80s, will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday.

The marker will be unveiled in front of the former location of The Masque Nightclub—now the at 6650 Hollywood Blvd.—where the all-female band first performed on stage.

Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Leron Gubler will emcee the event scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.

The Go-Go’s were one of the signature bands of the '80s after the release of their debut album Beauty and the Beat, which included the chart-topping singles “Our Lips Are Sealed” and “We Got the Beat.” (Fans can take a stroll through their catalog of hits here). 

Soon after, the Go-Go’s appeared on magazine covers, made numerous television appearances and played to sold out arenas around the world.

A digitally remastered version of their debut album was released in May. The group is touring in support of the album, which marks the 30th anniversary of the original release. The Go-Go's will headline a concert at the Greek Theatre on Aug. 17.
