Steve Harvey Receives Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

Television talk show hosts Ellen DeGeneres and Phil McGraw join Harvey at the ceremony in front of the W Hotel on Hollywood Boulevard.

Steve Harvey, who hosts a television talk show and the game show "Family Feud," received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Monday in the radio category.

"I share this star with every single fan of Steve Harvey," Harvey said, paying tribute to anyone who has "clapped for me, cheered for me, bought tickets for me."

Since September 2000, Harvey has hosted the nationally syndicated "The Steve Harvey Morning Show," which airs on nearly 70 radio stations and has approximately 6 million listeners each week.

Born Jan. 17, 1957, in Welch, W.V., Harvey, the youngest of five children, was raised in Ohio, attended Kent State and West Virginia universities and worked as an insurance salesman, carpet cleaner and letter carrier before beginning his stand-up comedy career in Cleveland in 1985.

Harvey hosted the syndicated music competition series "Showtime at the Apollo" from 1993-2000, starred in the comedy "Me and the Boys," which aired on ABC in the 1994-95 season and "The Steve Harvey Show," which ran on The WB Network from 1996-2002.

Harvey also appeared in the films "Love Don't Cost a Thing," "You Got Served," "Johnson Family Vacation," "Madea Goes to Jail" and "Think Like a Man."

The unveiling of the Walk of Fame's 2,497th star coincides with the start of the nomination process for the Neighborhood Awards, which Harvey and his producer, Rushion McDonald, created to honor local businesses, schools, teachers, coaches and leaders.
