Police Holding Identity of Gunman in Hollywood Shooting

Authorities plan to reopen Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street at midnight, Saturday morning.

The investigation into the Friday morning shooting at Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street continued late into the night.

Friday night, police witheld the identity of the gunman after he was seen firing at vehicles.

At the family's request, police delayed releasing his identity until more family members were notified, said LAPD spokeswoman Norma Eisenman. Police said the man was a caucasian, 26-year-old, Los Angeles resident.

"If he had aimed a little bit better I could just be gone right now," said Godley. "I am still processing all of that. I think it has yet to really set in.”

Godley was driving a black 2003 Toyota Tacoma truck that was captured in a video by William Wiles. The video shows the man firing his gun standing at the intersection of Vine Street and Sunset Boulevard firing at Godley's pickup truck.

Hollywood Patch will continue to check with police for updates on Saturday.
