Aguilar, known for his mixing of the mariachi tradition with the energy of contemporary pop music, was born Aug. 7, 1968, in San Antonio during his father's concert tour and raised in Zacatecas, Mexico.

Known as "The Voice," Aguilar made his singing debut at Madison Square Garden when he was 3 years old.

Aguilar won his fourth Grammy in February as "Bicentenario" was honored as the best regional Mexican or Tejano album.

Aguilar's other Grammys, all for best Mexican or Mexican American album, came in 2000 for "Por Una Mujer Bonita," in 2006 for "Historias De Mi Tierra" in 2006 and "100% Mexicano" in 2007.

Aguilar is also an acclaimed producer who has worked with traditional Mexican folk and pop singers Lupita D'Alessio, Edith Marquez and Guadalupe Pineda and Spanish-language folk stars Julieta Venegas and Tiziano Ferro.
