Group to Create Parks in Parking Spaces

The group organizing Park[ing] Day LA aims to create awareness of the need for parks in urban areas.

There are many parks around the city, but a group feels like there are many more parking spaces – and they plan on doing something about it.

Pass through the communities of East Hollywood or Echo Park on Friday and you may see community activists taking over metered parking spots to create their own utopian open spaces during the fourth annual Park[ing] Day LA.

According to the event's website, Park[ing] Day LA is meant to "stir a conversation or dialogue on open space."
