GARCETTI, HOPE HOST WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN LEADERS

L.A. City Councilmember Eric Garcetti, in partnership with Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE), was proud to present "Activating Women for Elected and Appointed Office." 

More than 50 women attended this workshop to learn more about running a successful campaign and applying for local and state appointments.

"Women from all sectors - private, non-profit, government, political - have made and will continue to make tremendous contributions to our communities, but we need to be more strategic about getting women to seek elected and appointed office. I want to make sure that women have the resources and opportunities to lead," said Garcetti.

GARCETTI TO EMCEE CAST GALA DINNER

Councilmember Eric Garcetti will serve as master of ceremonies for the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST) annual gala. The event will be held on May 17 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Skirball Cultural Center (2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd).

The CAST gala honors those who have shown extraordinary leadership in protecting and empowering survivors of modern day slavery and creating social change that will help put an end to this human rights violation. 

Proceeds from the gala benefit CAST's programs to provide emergency response, comprehensive services, outreach and advocacy to survivors of slavery and human trafficking.

YPI GALA DINNER TO HONOR HOLLYWOOD COMMUNITY LEADERS

The Youth Policy Institute (YPI) will hold its annual gala dinner and auction on Thursday, May 17, at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (7000 Hollywood Blvd). This year's dinner will honor two outstanding leaders in the Hollywood community -- Laurie Goldman and Alex Reza. 

Proceeds from this event will benefit the YPI Hollywood FamilySource Center, which provides low-income families with education, training, and referrals to other services. The center services 2,600 clients -- helping them to train for and find jobs, access health insurance, participate in after school programs, access legal services, and much more.
