Chick-fil-A Hollywood Prepares to Open Thursday

The eatery will offer outdoor dining and late night hours.

It is six days and counting until Hollywood’s first Chick-fil-A opens its doors for business.

If you've driven past its location at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Sunset Boulevard, you may have noticed special events held in the restaurant leading up to its opening, including red carpet events.

Fans of the popular franchise will find the familiar chicken sandwiches, chicken wraps, waffle fries, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and other food made from scratch, but there will also be elements special to the Hollywood location.

The new location will stay open the longest hours of any franchise, with operating hours set through 3 a.m. on Friday nights and midnight on Saturday nights to accommodate the night crowd, said franchise owner Jeremiah Cillpam.

“It’s a community that doesn’t sleep, so we want to cater to them,” he said.

The art deco-inspired location will have no indoor seating. Diners will eat outside on a patio, ordering through walk-up windows or use the restaurant's two drive-through windows. Cillpam said the drive-through windows feature a “virtual face-to-face” experience that allows customers to see the person taking their order, thanks to registers inside with their own cameras.

His goal is to offer “world-class hospitality that’s genuine,” he said.

Cillpam and his 60 team members aim to position the new Chick-fil-A as one of the go-to restaurants for locals and tourists to seek out when they come to town, he said. Chick-fil-A’s cow mascot may also occasionally walk up the street to Hollywood & Highland from its location at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Highland Avenue, to help spread the word, said Skip MacHarg, a business consultant for Chick-fil-A.

The first 100 customers in line when the new location opens at 6 a.m. on Thursday will receive free chicken for a year. People may start lining up as early as 6 a.m. on Wednesday. There will also be a DJ on hand next Wednesday night to entertain Chick-fil-A fans, Cillpam said.

Chick-fil-A is located at 6750 W. Sunset Blvd.
