Officers deployed in the area due to Halloween night celebrations responded to the scene within minutes, but the suspect or suspects had already fled, possibly in a white sport utility vehicle, Chao said.

Descriptions of the suspects were not immediately available.

Hollywood Boulevard was closed to vehicles between Highland and Whitley, which is a few blocks west of Cahuenga.

Officers moved pedestrians off Hollywood Boulevard and onto nearby parallel neighborhood streets.

Patch witnessed officers gather on Cherokee Avenue, just north of Hollywood Boulevard, form a blockade to prevent pedestrian access to the street. [See the attached video]
